The Centre for Training and Networking in Nonviolent Action – KURVE Wustrow was founded in 1980 with the aim of turning concerns about violent conflict, environmental degradation and social injustice into conscious nonviolent action.

KURVE Wustrow conducts trainings, workshops and events in the field of civil, nonviolent conflict transformation in Germany and abroad. We send International Peace Workers as part of the “Civil Peace Service” (CPS) to selected conflict regions. For this purpose, KURVE Wustrow is closely cooperating with partner organisations in the Balkans, Ukraine, Sudan, West -, South - and Southeast Asia. Further focal points of our work include our commitment to climate and resource protection and against nuclear energy.

together with our partner organisation Center for Balkan Cooperation LOJA we are looking

for a Junior International Peace Worker (f/m/d) in Tetovo and Skopje, North Macedonia 

These are your tasks

As a Junior International Peace Worker, you will (part-time) support our partner organisation Centre for Balkan Cooperation (CBC) LOJA in North Macedonia in their efforts to integrate multicultural and peace education into the education system and to gradually take the project to the regional level. You will also (part-time) assist KURVE Wustrow’s regional coordinator in accompanying our regional programme in the Western Balkans. 

  • You support LOJA in Tetovo in planning, implementing, and documenting project activities such as conferences, network meetings, study visits, and academic exchanges
  • You will support LOJA with social media management, promoting its activities, and translating its work into easy-to-understand messages in order to increase the project’s visibility and the engagement among young people in the region
  • You assist KURVE Wustrow’s country coordinator in the Western Balkans in the office in Skopje in the accompaniment of partner organisations and in financial and project administration

Skills you have

  • Strong willingness and ability to work in an intercultural context and a mixed environment, maintaining sensitivity and adaptability when collaborating with diverse groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with conflicts and challenges with a calm, solution-oriented mindset.
  • The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning. Ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations.
  • Experience in PR and digital content creation, including practical skills in photography, video shooting, and video editing/cutting to effectively promote activities and events.
  • Knowledge of managing Social Media and New Media tools to foster online community engagement among regional youth.
  • Relevant training in the fields of civil, nonviolent conflict transformation, reconciliation and/or peace education and sound knowledge in this area, preferably within the Western Balkan/ South East European context, will be an asset. 
  • Experience in planning and executing diverse formats—such as conferences, network and exchange meetings or study visits.
  • Very good English language skills and willingness to learn Macedonian or Albanian.
  • Ability to commute between Skopje and Tetovo.

  • A full-time contract in accordance with the German Development Workers Act (only for EU-citizens) or a contract in alignment with the Development Workers Act for citizens from other countries until 31.12.2028 (subject to BMZ project continuation after 2027). Please note: The conditions of the Development Workers Act precludes the application and deployment of citizens of the project country, in this case North Macedonia.
  • Comprehensive social benefits according to the EhfG (German Development Workers Act), also for family members where applicable.
  • An extensive preparation period in Germany, usually about two months; the preparation time will start on October 1st 2026.
  • A meaningful role as a Junior International Peace Worker who is working for the Centre for Training and Networking in Nonviolent Action – KURVE Wustrow, and the opportunity to actively and creatively advocate social change.
  • Participation in qualification and further training measures, regular supervision and, if necessary, participation in a corresponding language course.
