International Peace Worker in Palestine/ Israel

With our work at KURVE Wustrow, we help to ensure that concern about armed conflicts, ecological destruction and social injustice can be translated into considered, nonviolent action.

We deploy peace workers as part of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) and work together with partner organisations in the Balkans, in Palestina/Israel, in Sudan, Ukraine and in South and South East Asia. We also focus on seminars on civil, nonviolent conflict resolution in Germany and abroad, engage against nuclear power and support climate and resource protection.

for an

 

International Peace Worker (f/m/d) in Palestine/ Israel (38,5 hours/week)

These are your tasks

As an integrated peace worker you will work with a professional NGO (HRDF) to strengthen the rights of human rights defenders in Palestine/Israel. You will work in the field of advocacy on human rights and international law, training and consultation, support and administrative backstopping. Together with a local expert from the partner organisation, you will plan and implement the CPS project.

  • you support monitoring the situation of human rights defenders and submitting reports to relevant institutions (e.g. the UN Human Rights Council)
  • you support the planning, monitoring and reporting (narrative and financially) of the CPS project
  • you identify training opportunities and support conducting trainings with our partners

Skills you have

  • A relevant university degree (e.g. law / human rights, peace and conflict studies, political sciences) or completed training with several years of professional experience in a field of work relevant to the CPS and HRDF
  • Several years of practical experience in working with NGOs, preferably in intercultural teams and/or abroad.
  • Relevant further training in the field of human rights or civil, non-violent conflict transformation and sound knowledge in this area.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict, which can be used respectfully and sensitively in an intercultural context.
  • The ability to self-reflect and a high degree of learning and adaptability.
  • Personal responsibility, strong planning and implementation skills, the ability to deal with complex situations and tolerance towards unclear situations.
  • Very good English language skills, advcanced Hebrew skills are an asset.
  • Drivers licence and willingness to drive in Palestine / Israel.
  • A meaningful role as a peace worker who is working for the Centre for Training and Networking in Nonviolent Action – KURVE Wustrow and the Human Rights Defenders Fund, and the opportunity to actively and creatively advocate social change
  • Participation in qualification and further training measures, regular supervision and, if necessary, participation in a corresponding language course
  • Many opportunities to work independently, a high degree of creative freedom in your daily work and cooperation at eye level
  • A full-time contract in accordance with the Development Workers Act (for EU citizens, EEA and Switzerland only) or a contract in alignment with the Development Workers Act for citizens from other countries until December 2028.
    Please note: The conditions of the German law for development aid workers precludes the application and deployment of citizens of the deployment countries.
